ICE released its FY 2010 – 2014 strategic plan. ICE plans to seek better statutory tools to address illegal employment, invest more resources to remove aliens who overstay nonimmigrant visas and solicit proposals for at least four regional detention facilities.

As of 6/11/10, USCIS receipted 27,778 H-2B petitions, including approved and pending, towards the 47,000 beneficiaries target for the 2nd half of FY 2010. Beneficiaries target is the estimated number of petitions needed to reach the cap and is higher than the actual cap.

USCIS updated its count of FY 2011 cap-subject H-1B petitions and advanced degree cap-exempt petitions receipted. As of 06/11/10, approximately 22,200 H-1B cap-subject petitions were receipted. USCIS has receipted 9,400 H-1B petitions for aliens with advanced degrees.

USCIS announced that a new version of the Application to Replace Permanent Resident Card (Form I-90) is available on the USCIS website. USCIS will accept previous versions of Form I-90 until 07/28/10.

USCIS launched a redesigned web interface for employers using the E-Verify Program. All current E-Verify users are required to complete an updated tutorial. The new homepage includes a case alerts feature and masking Social Security numbers as a security feature.

Supreme Court reversed, holding that second or subsequent simple possession offenses are not aggravated felonies under INA §1101(a)(43) when the state conviction is not based on the fact of a prior conviction. (Carachuri-Rosendo v. Holder, 6/14/10).
