NBC reports that Representative Elijah Cummings (D-MD), Chairman of the House Oversight Committee, sent a letter to CIS Ombudsman Julie Kirchner about “troubling reports” he had received that “raise significant questions” about whether she has “sufficient commitment” to the agency’s mission.

USCIS and CBP announced that they extended their joint pilot program for Canadian citizens seeking L‑1 nonimmigrant status under the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) through April 30, 2019. This pilot allows, but doesn’t require, Canadian citizens to request USCIS remotely adjudicate their petitioning employer’s Form I‑129 or I‑129S prior to their arrival or when they arrive at the Blaine port of entry.

USCIS updated its H‑2B cap count for FY2019, stating that it has received 23,503 beneficiaries towards the 33,000 cap for the first half of FY2019, with 20,155 approved and 3,348 beneficiaries pending.

USCIS is updating policy guidance in its Policy Manual to clarify the married and living in marital union requirements for naturalization under INA §319(a). The updated guidance is effective immediately, is controlling, and supersedes any prior guidance on this matter.

USCIS’s new guidance regarding the discretion to deny an application, petition, or request without first issuing an RFE or NOID in certain circumstances will take effect next Tuesday, September 11, 2018.
Another hit on due process. However, going to court is always an option.

USCIS announced that attorneys and accredited representatives can now file Form N-565, Application for Replacement Naturalization/Citizenship Document, for their clients online using their myUSCIS account. No substantive changes have been made to the content of the form.
