DHS Final Rule Designating Poland as a Visa Waiver Program Country

DHS published a final rule in the Federal Register designating Poland as a country eligible to participate in the Visa Waiver Program. The rule is effective Monday, November 11, 2019.

Changes in the Visa Waiver Program

The White House released a fact sheet on the Visa Waiver Program (VWP), including information on new security changes announced yesterday. The fact sheet states that DHS will immediately take steps to modify its Electronic System for Travel Authorization (ESTA) applications to capture information from VWP travelers regarding any past travel to countries constituting a terrorist safe haven. In addition, DHS Secretary Jeh Johnson issued a statementon steps that have been taken to strengthen the screening of those who are traveling to the United States, including security enhancements to the VWP.

Coming on a Visa Waiver?

DOS issued a fact sheet on the Visa Waiver Program (VWP), which allows eligible citizens or nationals of countries which have met U.S. security requirements to travel to the United States without visas in exchange for visa-free travel to those countries by U.S. citizens. The fact sheet includes information on how the VWP works and on recent enhancements to improve security measures.

WT/WB Visa Waiver

There are many countries in the world that do not require formal issuance of a visa to visit the United States. If you are from one of those countries, then you are eligible to come in on either the visa waiver for pleasure as a tourist visa (WT).
