USCIS updated its count of FY 2011 cap-subject H-1B petitions and advanced degree cap-exempt petitions receipted. As of 7/30/10, approximately 27,300 H-1B cap-subject petitions were receipted. USCIS has receipted 11,600 H-1B petitions for aliens with advanced degrees.

USCIS announcement on revised filing addresses for petitioners who live in Canada, and who are filing a stand-alone Form I-130, Petition for Alien Relative. The new form is dated 6/14/10. This form is now processed through the USCIS Chicago Lockbox facility.

USCIS announcement on revised filing instructions and addresses for filing an Application to Extend/Change Nonimmigrant Status (Form I-539) by itself. Beginning 8/3/10, applicants submitting Form I-539 by itself must mail their application to the Dallas Lockbox facility.

USCIS announcement on the revised filing location for individuals filing an Immigrant Petition by Alien Entrepreneur (Form I-526). The new form version, dated 4/21/10, requires petitioners to file at the USCIS Dallas Lockbox rather than the USCIS California Service Center.

Government Accountability Office (GAO) report finding that the DOS passport issuance process continues to be vulnerable to fraud, as the agency issued five of the seven passports GAO attempted to fraudulently obtain. GAO obtained three passports, but DOS had two recovered from the mail before delivery.
