Immigration Programs
Congress passed a spending package to fund federal agencies through September 30, 2021. If signed into law, the omnibus bill and COVID-19 relief package will extend certain immigration programs set to expire, grant authority to DHS to increase the number of H-2B visas, and provide COVID-19 relief to mixed-status families.

The House passed the Senate-approved border supplemental spending bill, which included significant additional funding for ICE and CBP to house, transport, and provide for the care of migrant detainees, as well as funds to enable the HHS to care for the large numbers of unaccompanied children, among other provisions.

Congress approved a stopgap bill to fund the government for another week. This bill will reauthorize the EB-5 Regional Center, Conrad 30 J Waiver, and Special Immigrant Non-Minister Religious Worker programs. Over the weekend, Congress will continue negotiating on a long-term spending bill, including President Trump’s request to fund his massive enforcement plan, including more detention beds and deportation agents.
