Infants as Young as 5 Months Old Are Being Detained by ICE, Groups Claim
CBS News reports on a complaint filed yesterday, the American Immigration Council, and CLINIC regarding “an alarming increase in the number of infants” being held in ICE detention in Dilley, TX. The complaint states that infants have been subject to “lengthy delays in receiving medical attention and lack of appropriate follow-up treatment.” Physicians for Human Rights also sent a letter to DHS expressing “grave concern” about the infants’ detention and requesting their immediate release.

Trump Administration Sued over Major Shift in Asylum Policy
The Associated Press reports that the ACLU and other groups filed a federal lawsuit yesterday to block the Trump administration from returning asylum seekers to Mexico while their cases wind through U.S. immigration courts.

9th Circuit Rules against Trump’s Asylum Ban
The 9th Circuit just ruled that it was unlawful for Trump to deny Central Americans into the U.S. to apply for asylum and cannot unilaterally stop asylum laws.

Jeff Sessions further curtails Due Process of Foreign Nationals
DOJ announced that Attorney General Jeff Sessions notified all U.S. Attorney’s Offices along the southwest border of a new “zero-tolerance policy” for offenses under 8 U.S.C. §1325(a), which prohibits both attempted illegal entry and illegal entry into the United States by an individual. Sessions further directed the U.S. Attorney’s Offices to prosecute all DHS referrals for §1325(a) violations to the extent practicable.
