Executive Order for Keeping Families Together

Another Executive Order by President Biden to allow keep families together by doing different things such as recapturing unused visas, eliminating wait times, and eliminating the 3/10 year bar. It also provides protections for orphans, widows, children, and Filipino veterans who fought alongside the United States in World War II. Lastly, the bill allows immigrants with approved family-sponsorship petitions to join family in the United States on a temporary basis while they wait for green cards to become available.

President Biden’s executive order on Citizenship for undocumented individuals

This is not law yet, it it would allow Dreamers (DACA) , TPS holders, farmworkers to fall under this legislation. After 3 years and has certain other requirements.

Biden Administration’s Latest Immigration Actions

An executive order titled, Ensuring the Future Is Made in All of America by All of America’s Workers, which was originally issued on January 25, was published in the Federal Register today. It revokes several previous executive orders, including Executive Order 13788, Buy American and Hire American, among other things. DHS Acting Secretary Pekoske extended Syria’s TPS designation for 18 months. DOS announced National Interest Exceptions for certain H-2 travelers from South Africa.

Immigration Advocates Celebrate Alejandro Mayorkas as Biden’s Pick to Run Homeland Security

Yahoo News reports on President-Elect Biden’s announcement that he intends to nominate Alejandro Mayorkas as secretary of DHS. Mayorkas, who previously served as deputy secretary of DHS under President Obama, is the son of Cuban Jews who came to the United States as refugees in 1960, less than a year after he was born.

The Hill reports that President-elect Joe Biden said that he planned to use his first 100 days in office to take action on an immigration by sending a bill to the United States Senate with a pathway to citizenship for over 11 million undocumented people in America.

Joe Biden Has Promised to End Trump’s Muslim and African ‘Travel Ban.’ But Its Legacy Will Be Felt for Years

Time Magazine reports that President-Elect Joe Biden has promised to revoke the Trump-era travel ban on his first day in office—a commitment that families who have been separated by the ban are desperately hoping he follows through on. Under the most recent version of President Trump’s ban, citizens from Iran, Libya, Somalia, Syria, Yemen, Venezuela, North Korea, Nigeria, Myanmar, Eritrea, Kyrgyzstan, Sudan, and Tanzania face varying degrees of visa restrictions.
