Court Preserves Validity of FY 2020 Diversity Visas

A district court issued an emergency injunction preserving and extending the validity of most diversity visas from the FY2020 diversity visa lottery, so that 2020 diversity visa recipients may have a chance to travel to the United States before their visas expire.

DOS Posts Visa Bulletin for February 2021

DOS posted the February 2021 Visa Bulletin. In addition to final action dates and dates for filing for family and employment-based petitions, it contains notes on the diversity visa (DV) category, DV category rank cutoffs that will apply in March, visa availability in the coming months, an annual report of immigrant visa applicants in the family-sponsored and employment-based preferences registered at the National Visa Center as of November 1, 2020, and more. USCIS determined that, for February 2021, F2A applicants may file using the Final Action Dates chart. Applicants in all other family-sponsored preference categories must use the Dates for Filing chart. Applicants in all employment-based preference categories must use the Final Action Dates chart.

Diversity Visa Winners File Complaint Arguing the Trump Administration Unlawfully Suspended the DV-2020 Program]

A group of 226 Diversity Visa program selectees and their families from over 65 countries filed a complaint in district court arguing that the Trump administration has suspended the DV-2020 program through policies, procedures, and practices that are contrary to the INA and federal regulations governing the program.

Diversity Lottery begins again

The State Department provided information on the 2017 Diversity Immigrant Visa Program (DV-2017), including instructions on submitting an electronic entry, answers to frequently asked questions (FAQs), and a list of countries/areas by region whose natives are eligible for DV-2017. Entries must be submitted electronically between October 1, 2015, andNovember 3, 2015.
