Biden’s special envoy said that the White House is looking to create legal ways for Central American migrants to reach the U.S. amid the sharp increase in illegal crossings over the past few months. Ricardo Zuñiga, Biden’s envoy to the Northern Triangle countries in Central America, said during a visit to Guatemala that the White House was looking to offer protections to migrants amid a push by Biden to reshape the U.S. border policy. Zuñiga was also set to visit El Salvador this week, and discussed migration “in a comprehensive fashion” with the Honduran Foreign Minister last Friday.
