VP Harris was tasked with leading efforts to coordinate with Mexico, Guatemala, Honduras, and El Salvador to handle the overcrowding at southern migrant facilities. Harris will work to stem the flow of people coming at the border, including the many unaccompanied minor children. Officials said that Harris’ work will go beyond short-term problems and will also be targeted to address the root causes of the region’s migrant problems and will also coordinate with international organizations and private-sector entities as part of her efforts.border
